Fence Maintenance – Spring Clean Up
Spring is the perfect time to clean up your yard and fence from the long winter season. Spring cleanup is important for the longevity of your wood fence. A build up of leaves and other decaying matter can rot the wood on your fence.
1) Remove old leaves, dirt, and other plant debris from your fence.
2) Trim your trees and remove low hanging branches that could potentially damage your fence in high winds.
3) Paint or stain your wood fence with a fresh coat of a quality paint or stain.
4) Check your fence after a spring storm to make sure it is in good condition. Check for rot on the wood post and the wood planks. The part of the post that is at the ground level is the most likely to rot due to moisture, so pay special attention to these areas. If your fence post are rotted they should be replace immediately.
